Description
Bluegreen winter is an exceptionally hardy variety which produces long, strong, beautiful, pure white stems.
Leeks require a finely cultivated seedbed. Nutrient-rich, deep, loose soil is vital. Leeks thrive when soil moisture is consistent. Sow thin and press seeds into the soil. If sown early in the season, keep an eye out for premature stem growth in order to avoid bolting. When transplanting, make sure that only the base of the leaves remain above ground. Do not prune the roots or leaves, as this reduces the yield. Hilling during cultivation increases the length of the shaft’s white portion.
