Leafy greens for autumn and winter. Can be consumed raw, steamed or with baked cheese. Keeps for up to 2 months when stored cool and dry.
Sugarloaf thrives in good, humus-rich garden soil in a sunny, protected area. Water in dry weather.
Best planted after the soil bed has been depleted of its nutrients by such plants as broccoli or cauliflower. Wait 4 years before planting sugarloaf in soil where lettuce has been harvested.
